Compassion Challenge Day 6 – Self-Compassion

It is easy to care for others or material possesions when we know that they belong to us. When it comes to the self we may sometimes forget our true values and qualities we possess. We take ourselves for granted, falling into a habit that may not be healthy for us and the impact then affects others. The state of imbalance within the individual is reflected in the world around us. The deterioration of human values has resulted in human beings becoming strangers to their inner peace, and to the important values of compassion and respect, equality and truth.

If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassionDalai Lama

All compassion begins with self-compassion. How kind and gentle one is with others is usually a direct indication of how compassionate they are with themselves. Self-compassion is what brings empathy, understanding and kindness. It is the understanding that all forms of life have their unique way of learning, expressing, creating and flourishing – and it does so in its own time, without rushing. This includes us!

Write down 3 ways you can show compassion to yourself today.
