The Real Union: Celebrating International Yoga Day with the Power of Rajayoga
The Spiritual Power of Rajayoga: Healing the Self, Society, and the Earth
In celebration of International Yoga Day – June 21, we explore how the ancient wisdom of Rajayoga offers practical tools for inner healing, outer harmony, and planetary transformation. Rooted in the teachings of the Brahma Kumaris, Rajyoga is more than a practice—it’s a remembrance of the soul’s original nature and its connection to the Supreme.
What is Rajayoga?
The word ‘Rajayoga’ means the “Supreme Union” – a spiritual connection between the soul and the Supreme Soul, God. “Raja” means king, and “yoga” means union. It is the king of all yogas because it restores sovereignty—not over others—but over the self.
Rajayoga is not about physical postures or rituals. It is the art of mental communion with God, a silent, loving remembrance that uplifts the soul and brings it back to its original qualities of peace, purity, love, and power.
Why Rajayoga?
Most of today’s global and personal crises—whether environmental degradation, health issues, or inner conflict—stem from spiritual disconnection. When we forget our identity as souls and disconnect from the Divine, we fall into ego, anger, greed, and fear.
Rajayoga reconnects us with our true self and the Source. It purifies the mind, heals emotional wounds, and empowers us to make choices rooted in clarity and compassion. The inner change it creates naturally flows into our relationships, communities, and the planet.
The Spiritual Power of Om Chanting
Om is not just a sound; it is a sacred vibration that reconnects us with the truth of who we are. In the Brahma Kumaris, Om symbolises the affirmation: I am a soul. The syllable “Om” is made up of three sounds—A, U, and M—representing the journey of the soul through the cycle of time.
When we chant Om with awareness, we are not simply repeating a word—we are aligning with our eternal identity. It becomes a spiritual practice of soul-consciousness, helping us detach from the physical form and awaken inner peace.
Chanting Om:
-
Calms the mind and stabilises the emotions
-
Increases awareness of the self beyond the body
-
Creates a natural detachment from worldly roles
-
Opens the heart for deep connection with the Supreme
-
Uplifts our energy and clears negativity
Om chanting, practiced with understanding and love, becomes a gateway to silence and soul awakening.
Om Shanti — I am a peaceful soul.
Rajayoga & Health: Healing Through Inner Power
True health is not just about the absence of disease. It is a balance of mental clarity, emotional peace, and physical vitality. Many modern illnesses are rooted in anxiety, overthinking, and emotional suppression.
Rajayoga offers a holistic path to wellness. Through regular practice, we recharge the soul, release inner toxins like guilt and fear, and create uplifting, healing thoughts. Scientific studies affirm that meditation boosts immunity and lowers stress levels. But Rajyoga goes even deeper—it brings the healing energy of divine connection.
A Brahma Kumari sister once recovered from a serious illness with deep meditation and spiritual strength. When the mind is peaceful and filled with faith, even the body begins to respond.
Meditation Commentary – Health
Hindi:

Stress is leaving… Peace is entering…
I am healthy… I am whole… I am a soul connected to God…
Rajayoga and the Environment: A Silent Revolution
Our environment reflects our inner state. The imbalance of nature is the external echo of human unrest. When we shifted from soul-consciousness to body-consciousness, from gratitude to greed, we began to exploit rather than care for the Earth.
Rajayoga restores the inner connection that naturally leads to harmony with nature. When the soul is content, it desires less, consumes less, and respects more. Our thoughts become a powerful force—vibrations that touch trees, skies, oceans, and living beings.
Even science acknowledges that collective human energy influences the ecosystem. Through Rajayoga, our pure thoughts and peaceful vibrations can heal the natural world. As we remember the Divine and radiate calm, the Earth responds in subtle yet profound ways.

Hindi:

Rajayoga for Peace of Mind
Despite our comforts and achievements, the modern mind is restless. Peace feels distant because we’ve forgotten who we truly are. Rajayoga reconnects us to our original nature.
Through this practice, we reduce waste thoughts, increase emotional stability, and regain control over our inner world. Peace then becomes not just an experience—but our identity.
When the soul is peaceful, it responds rather than reacts. It listens deeply and communicates with clarity. Relationships improve, minds quieten, and a calm atmosphere follows us wherever we go.
Meditation Commentary – Peace of Mind
Hindi:
English: Om Shanti…
I close my eyes gently… Breathe softly… And settle into stillness…
I am a soul… Peaceful by nature…
I connect to the Supreme Soul… The Ocean of Peace…
His silence enters me… Slowing my thoughts… Quieting my mind…
I become still… Like a calm lake… Reflecting peace to the world… Om Shanti.
On this International Yoga Day, let us embrace Rajayoga as a living practice of peace—not just for the self, but for the whole world. In silence, remembrance, and service, may we radiate healing to the body, harmony to nature, and peace to every soul.
